Nature Intérieure

Exhibition: June 5 - September 10, 2010

The first time that she enters Le Moulin, matali crasset is struck by the obviousness. There is a transparency identical to that which guides her work with Wine – "In vino veritas". The same fluidity of the materials, the natural porosity between nature and the fruit that she bears. In the way that the glass allows flavour and tannins to filter through, Le Moulin was going to enable oil from the Mediterranean to be tasted in another way. Quite a challenge. And imagination wins as the alliance between creation and nature has today been consummated. For matali crasset, design is a scenario to be rewritten and the objects are to be reinvented like the sequences of a film. Thus, the rooms in the Espace d'art become for her the décor of a full-sized storyboard, "grandeur nature". Here a synthetic orchard, there a wine-tasting room, and all these "transparent" objects which augur the sweetness of the golden nectar. Antinomy rules as the master with the will to bare – as the negative of a photo does – the raw reality as well as the salt of the earth that lingers in the flavour of the oil.
We can see that the work of matali crasset continues through time. At La Valette it also multiplies through the space as the resonance of NATURE INTÉRIEURE is twofold. In & out. Inside and outside. Almost in stereo. In the Espace d'art and at Baudouvin, the other and second place where matali's poetry plays a full ouverture. "Grandeur nature" simultaneously. I leave to everyone the pleasure of just letting go and going, under the "tèso", to dream of those "little ships sailing out across the water, off into the blue"...
